Lukashenko to Personally Relieve Businessmen from Responsibility 15:55, 20/10/2005
President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus has changed the procedure of relieving businessmen from economic responsibility.
According to the presidential press service, this is stipulated by the decree `On Improving the Procedure of Relieving Entrepreneurs from Economic Responsibility`, which was inked on October 17, 2005. Under the decree, the head of state has the exclusive right to relief from economic responsibility, including that already enforced through court. There is a possibility of being relieved from economic sanctions not only for tax but also other infractions, including in construction, customs, trade and banking. An interdepartmental commission, formed especially for this purpose, will prepare papers to relieve (fully or partially) from economic responsibility, including a draft presidential ruling.
