Censorship gets harder in Belarusian Internet 17:27, 14/11/2005

Banners that call Belarus to take part in Day of solidarity were removed today from leading Belarusian Internet-portal TUT.by. The banners were also removed from pages cards.tut.by, love.tut.by and forums.tut.by. Several other Belarusian Internet pages also refused to support the action. It is unknown for now weather is it connected with pressure of authorities or with self-censorship. Let us hope that owners of this pages will at least light candles in their windows. 
Regime to Control Opinion Polls 14:21, 14/11/2005

The National Academy of Science of Belarus takes over the control of organizing opinion polls. This decision has been formalised by the Decree of the Council of ministers of Belarus of November 8, 2005. According to the resolution, the functions of accreditation of legal entities, that lay claims to holding opinion polls, which are related to the republican referenda, presidential elections, elections of parliament deputies and a public and political situation in the country, and to publishing their results in mass media, are imposed on the Commission on Public Opinion Polls by the Belarusian Academy of Science of Belarus. 
Homiel Region: Ideological Work Reinforced 12:36, 14/11/2005

Aliaksandr Rahachou, rector of Homiel Frantsysk Skaryna University, stated about the reinforcement of propaganda in his report to the ambulatory sitting of Minsk City Executive Committee. Before this, workers of the executive committee, ideologists and heads of educational establishments visited student dormitories, youth and sports houses. Viktar Shchetska, presidential assistant in the region, took part in the discussion of the report. 
Public organization vs. Belarusian TV: Minsk City Court Restores “Justice” 12:35, 14/11/2005

On 9 November the Presidium of Minsk City Court satisfied the protest of Aliaksandr Fiedartsou, vice-chair of the Supreme Court and reversed the verdict of Minsk Piershamaiski Borough Court according to which Belarusian State TV and Radio Company had to reprove the information concerning the public association Will for Development that was spread by Panarama program. 
Mikalai Charhiniets Calls Belarusian Aithorities “to Adequately React to Disrespect of Belarus” 12:34, 14/11/2005

On 9 November the member of the upper chamber of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Mikalai Charhiniets summoned a press conference dedicated to the refusal of the US State Department to issue to him visa (he was going to take part in the UN Session as a member of Belarusian delegation).

Belarus Illegally Restores Air Forces of Cote d`Ivoire? 11:58, 14/11/2005

The government of the Republic of Cote d`Ivoire has entered upon restoration of its air forces, almost completely destroyed by French aircraft in response to an Ivorian government-led air attack in 2004 that had caused the death of nine French peacekeeping troops, the address by the UN reads. The official statement by the UN is expected to be disseminated on Monday, but the copies of this document received by the Associated Press, read that a team of 10 technical experts from Belarus and Ukraine have arrived to Abidjan for restoration of planes in line with the agreement of the Defence Ministry of the Republic of Cote d`Ivoire.
