Another Interrogation of Activists of Union of Poles in Belarus
10:58, 17/11/2005

On 14 November fiver representatives of the Union of Poles in Belarus that is not recognized by the Belarusian authorities, Anzhalika Borys and four of her closest subordinates, were summonsed for interrogation to Hrodna investigative police department. Anzhalika Borys said that these interrogations had lasted for a year already. They started when she spoke against the former chair of the UPB Tadevush Kruchkouski who is supported by the Belarusian authorities.

The investigator Dzmitry Labkouski asked Inesa Todryk, modeller of the UPB newspaper, how the financial means and the humanitarian support to the organization were distributed. She responded she wasn’t a member of the council and had no relation to it. Investigator, in his turn, threatened her with criminal responsibility for misinformation. In addition, he informed her she will be confronted to somebody on 16 November.

Anzhalika Borys is surprised at such questions, because no humanitarian support came to the UPB during her rule:

-- I didn’t receive any support during the two months when I headed the organization. These are insinuations with the aim to make fuss and not let people live normally”, -- she said to the Polish radio. Anzhalika Borys is sure that by these interrogations the authorities want to intimidate hear adherents among the UPB members.
