Pavlovsky: pressure will be brought on Lukashenka 16:08, 06/12/2005
A Russian political scientist, the president of the Foundation for Effective Politics Gleb Pavlovsky predicts heavy pressure on the Belarusian regime form outside, and attempts of its overthrow in connection with the presidential elections in 2006. “There is a risk of creation of the crisis around Belarus. Even now it is in the focus of attention of the NATO and some European countries. And it raises concern,” the political scientist said at a press conference in Moscow, RIA Novosti informs.
Next year, as said by him, “massive pressure on Belarus in expected from outside, and attempts of regime change” in connection with the imminent presidential elections..
He predicts that “tension will be fomented around Belarus in the near future”. “And Russia will attempt to lessen this tension,” Pavlovsky said.
