Shejman For All Of Life’s Emergencies 17:11, 10/01/2006
Before the results of the presidential elections scheduled for March 19 are known, Alyaksandr Lukashenka has informed that the former chief of the presidential administration and the present head of Lukashenka’s election headquarters Viktar Shejman would head the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the country. “Viktar Shejman is and would remain a military man, and would head the structure once created on the order of the president, the State Secretariat of the Security Council,” A. Lukashenka said, presenting the new leadership of the presidential administration.
As Lukashenka noted, at the moment V. Shejman is on leave in line with the legislation, as he is the head of Lukashenka’s election headquarters. “And after the leave he is to be appointed the State Secretary of the Security Council, which would be in charge of the same problems as today’s State Secretariat,” A. Lukashenka said.
He has warned that the State Secretariat of the Security Council should not experience any “cadre revolution”. “It is manned by rather professional people”.
At the same time, as said by him, after the presidential elections it is supposed to “increase anti-corruption characteristics of the State Secretariat of the Security Council”.
As we have informed, Viktar Shejman, a former Prosecutor General of Belarus, is a non grata person in the countries of the European Union and in the USA. He is suspected of implication in abductions of a number of oppositional Belarusian politicians and a journalist.
