Pazniak: «Our activity is based on Constitution and laws» 15:36, 19/01/2006
Leader of the Conservative-Christian party BNF Zianon Pazniak regards the official note passed January 18 by the Central Election Committee to his spearhead group as an ultimatum. “We face the ultimatum: if we go on spreading information about the people’s voting, the signatures we have collected so far will be nullified” - Z.Pazniak comments on the situation. Pazniak addressed the members of his spearhead group asking to “ignore the ultimatum, to continue intensive collection of signatures and to inform the society about the necessity and procedure of the people’s voting”. “All our actions are based on the Constitution and laws and do not contradict the election legislature” - Z.Pazniak emphasizes.
According to the politician, at present he holds consultations with the management of his spearhead group and the CCH-BNF, after which “a collective decision regarding future actions” is to be taken. We shall remind that the reason for the note passed by the CEC was the information according to which members of the spearhead group of Pazniak spread printed materials agitating for the candidate during the signatures collection.
As the idea “people’s voting” is concerned, it implies that on the election day voters are supposed to come to the voting stations with their own alternative ballot papers, write there the name of the democratic candidate, throw ballots into the ballot box and give the official ballot to the special people’s election commission. The “people’s” ballot paper will be different from the official one, thus the results of the election will be obvious right after the ballot boxes will be open, as the authors of the idea believe.
