Editor-in-chief of “Baranavitsnaya Gazeta” Fined For Article About Day of Solidarity

On February 6 another trial over an oppositionist, an editor-in-chief of the “Baranavitskaya Gazeta” Uladzimir Hundar took place in the court of Baranavichy and Baranavichy district. Judge Zhana Kapacheuskaya found Uladzimir Hundar, a disabled person, guilty of administrative crime relating violation of the Article 167 Part 1 of the Administrative Code of Belarus (organizing or participation in an unsanctioned mass rally) and fined him 20 basic units.

Vendors Can Announce Strike

On February 6 the Supreme Court of Belarus ruled to liquidate the Belarusian Union of youth and children’s public associations “Rada”. The court found claims of Justice Ministry against the organisation well-grounded, the Radio Svaboda informs.

Milinkevich on relations with Russia

Aleksandr Milinkevich, leader of Belarus` united opposition forces, told the Ekho Moskvy radio station on Monday that his coalition would be able to "build better and more truthful, predictable and mutually beneficial" relations with Russia if it defeats Aleksandr Lukashenko in the March presidential election.

Attorney demands five and half years of imprisonment for Skrebets

The court sentence for Segey Skrebets will be passed on 14 February but it is already known what punishment the Attorney’s Office demands for him. The Attorney’s Office considers accusation completely proven and Skrebets must be serving prison sentence. The terms requested makes five and half years. This terms was requested by the representative of the Attorney’s Office Ms. Maryna Osyptchik.

OSCE/ODIHR opens observation mission in Minsk
