The Council of ministers of Belarus approved a new regulation concerning a procedure of foreign citizens deportation from the territory of Belarus. “This regulation expands the list of reasons foreign citizens could be deported from the territory of Belarus,” said first deputy head of Citizenship and Migration department of Interior ministry of Belarus Alyaksei Byahun on Tuesday.
He added that if “previously illegal stay at the territory of the country was a reason for deportation of a foreigner without a visa, or queries of special services to deport a foreigner, a visa’s annulment, now new issues were added to this list”.
“Amonth them there is a norm about a stay of a foreigner at the Belarusian territory that menaces national security of the country, public order defence or health of the citizens of the country,” A. Byahun explained.
Observers link these regulations to the upcoming presidential elections in March 2006. The list of non-grata persons could be expanded by the manes of young activists from Ukraine and Georgia, who took part in velvet revolutions in these countries.
