Czech Embassy Against Disinformation By Belarusian TV 13:36, 20/02/2006
The Embassy of the Czech Republic expresses deep concern about Belarusian TV false statements and conclusions about the Embassy in Minsk. “The Belarusian TV, in its the February 19 „Panarama“ programme spread disinformation in an open attempt to discredit our country and the Czech Embassy in Belarus,” the statement of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, received by the Charter’97 press center, reads.
It is said in the statement that booklets shown in the Panarama were not any "diversion". They contain the official text published in accordance with the United Nations. The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs translated the UN Resolution No. 13/2005 into Belarusian language for anybody who is interested in human rights in Belarus.
“It is unfortunate that the Belarusian regime maintains a state monopoly on delivering information to the Belarusian people. The Embassy would like to underscore that the true and independent information is a prerequisite for democracy and urges the Belarusian TV to allow objective information to flow to the Belarusian people,” the statement of the Czech diplomatic mission reads.
The Embassy insisted that it carries out all diplomatic activities in a transparent and open manners, and in a way that is consistent with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Anybody, who takes an interest in free and true information, can receive the booklet in the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Minsk, the statement notes.
