Candidate for presidency in Belarus Alyaksandr Kazulin is going to take part in the so-called “All-Belarusian Assembly”, which is to be held on March 2 in Minsk. In the morning Kazulin is going t register as a candidate of the assembly. Registration of Minsk candidates is to start at 8.30 a.m. in the Palace of Railway Workers. After that participants of the assembly are to go to the Palace of Republic, where Lukashenka is to arrive as a delegate of Shklou district.

In Hrodna region agitation campaign for democratic candidate for presidency, Alyaksandr Milinkevich, is sweep spread in Hrodna, Vaukavysk, Smarhon, Ashmyany, Astravets, Navahradak, Svislach, Karelichy, Dzyatlava, Lida, Slonim, other cities and towns. Aleksandr Voitovich, an ex-chairman of the Council of the Republic (upper parliamentary house) who withdrew from the country`s presidential race in January, has appealed to the central election commission to annul the registration of incumbent leader Aleksandr Lukashenko as a presidential candidate because of numerous violations of the constitution and the Electoral Code.

Belarus` top election official said that the recent publication of an opposition presidential candidate`s platform in a non-state newspaper was a violation of the Electoral Code. "Electoral legislation makes no provision for the publication of election platforms in the non-state media. Moreover, we regard such publications as financial assistance to candidates," Lidiya Yermoshina, chairwoman of the central election commission, said in an interview printed in the March 1 issue of the newspaper Zvyazda. The Electoral Code bars candidates from using funds other than that provided by the government for their campaigns.

February 28, activists of the youth wing of the Ukrainian civil party “Pora” held a piquet by the Belarusian Embassy in Kiev. According to the “Pora” press-service, more than 30 people came to the Embassy carrying “yellow flags of the party and historical white-red-white flags of Belarus”, “protesting against the methods that the official power of Belarus uses to fight its competitors before the Presidential election”.
