The regime is frightened by active campaign of the single democratic candidate of democratic forces Alyaksandr Milinkevich. Vintsuk Vyachorka, the leader of the Belarusian Popular Front party, an electioneering agent of the single candidate Alyaksandr Milinkevich has been sentenced to 15 days of arrest for campaigning. Defying the Electoral Code, the court charged Vyachorka with organizing an “unsanctioned rally”. The verdict was passed by judge of Maskouski district Nadzeja Ravutskaya (Revutskaya). The BPF leader called the verdict “absolutely unlawful”, saying that his arrest is nothing but “interning of Milinkevich’s electioneers in the run-up to the elections”. “Entirely in keeping with the Election Code I executed my duties as an agent. Law is at my side. We have a right to hold meetings with voters, and we shall continue to hold them. Long live Belarus!” Vintsuk Vyachorka said.
Vintsuk Vyachorka told the lawyer about the details of his detention. As said by him, riot policemen twisted his arms, insulted him, seized his phone.
More than one hundred people have come to support Vyachorka and Alyaksandr Milinkevich’s HQ activists. The verdict was followed by the shouts: “Shame!”
Today Alyaksandr Milinkevich’s HQ activist Alyaksandr Paulouski and Pyotr Babareka have been sentenced to 15 days of arrest, allegedly for “unsanctioned rally participation”, though they also had taken part in an absolutely legal meeting with voters.
As we have informed, the single democratic presidential candidate Alyaksandr Milinkevich has held a press conference today at the entrance of the court of Maskouski district court. The election campaign is cynical and illegal, but they will not scare us. We will fight till the victory,” he said.
“There is the Election Code which allows president candidates and their authorities to meet with voters. With the refuse to give us premises for meetings, election committees violate the Code. As well as the police violate the Code arresting campaign activists for meetings with voters held in the street. Constitution violations are not statute-run. All these crimes are noted down and those guilty will be punished”, - the united candidate stated.
The trial over other Alyaksandr Milinkevich’s campaign activists continues.
