NEWS  Candles of Solidarity with Political Prisoners Lit on Nyamiha Street (Photo) 22:02, 26/03/2006 Several hundreds of people have lit candles of solidarity with those who had been beaten up and arrested yesterday during a forcible disbanding of a peaceful protest on Freedom Day. Minsk dwellers put candles on the monument to victims of Nyamiha tragedy on Masherau (Victors’) Avenue and told that in this way they express their solidarity with imprisoned activists fighting for Freedom. Hundreds of candles were burning on Nyamiha for an hour, and attracted attention of a great number of Minsk dwellers. People stopped and lit candles themselves, discussed the events, made lists of arrested Belarusian citizens whose whereabouts after the demonstration disbanding is unknown.
