The swearing-in ceremony of Alyaxandr Lukashenka will not take place on March 31 and is postponed. The reasons for rescheduling the ceremony are not revealed. It looks really strange, as the Belarusian dictator do not show his face in public. It is unknown where the Belarusian dictator is and what has happened to him. The most stunning thing is that the state-run media say almost nothing about his most recent actions and decisions.
Last time general public could see Lukashenka on March 20, when he took part in a press-conference in Minsk on the results of the elections. After that he had not taken part in any public events.
Moreover, there haven’t been any reports from Minsk that the Belarusian dictator answered to congratulations addressed to him on the occasion of re-election, and Vladimir Putin was among those who had congratulated him. However, Lukashenka has not reacted to criticism by the US and EU after Belarusian police crackdown on peaceful protests.
Even Russian journalists recently noted Lukashenka’s irregularity of behavior. “In recent days Lukashenka has too much make-up on, and his actions are somewhat inadequate. At the police and KGB emergency meetings he could giggle, laugh, fool with some papers,” a reporter Roman Plusov told to the radio station “Echo Moskvy”.
“On the elections day, March 19, he was extremely nervous. I can compare the two days. I was at the polling station number 1, where Lukashenka cast a vote. On the next day at the press-conference he was a different man. He had heavy make-up, but it was obvious he had pouches under his eyes, he was nervous, and several times he flew off the handle several times and shouted at journalists, especially when they asked him unpleasant questions,” told a journalist Marina Maksimova to the Echo Moskvy.
According to the Electoral Code, within 10 days after the Central Electoral Committee passed a decision on election results, former candidates for presidency have a right to challenge them in the Supreme Court. The CEC session has taken place on March 23. Thus, the deadline for the submission of application for declaring presidential vote invalid is April 2.
