Zubrs Tried to Wash Russian Flag 21:14, 28/03/2006
Activists of the youth resistance movement Zubr have hold a protest action in front of the Russain Embassy. They protested against Russia’s support to Belarusian dictator.
Zubrs had a streamer with the words: “Yesterday you have supported a dictator. Do you support a criminal today?” A Zubr activist washed a Russian flag in a basin with soapy water. After the laundry was finished, a flag of the Soviet Union was taken out of the basin.
“Not only Belarusian regime is responsible for the bloody dispersing of peaceful protests, but the leadership of Russia as well. They support the dictator’s regime over and over again. Today we were trying to make the Russian flag clean from disgrace, but it has turned out that since the times of the Soviet Union, the foreign policy of Russia hasn’t changed,” one of the Zubr activists commented.
Right after the protest its three participants were detained and taken to the Tsentral police department of Minsk.
