Volga Paluychyk said to Radio Liberty that she had been interrogated in University by two KGB agents. They asked her how she met two activists of Hrodna department of “Young front”. They also expressed interest about her relations with Yauhien Skarabutan who had been expelled from the University for having calendar with portrait of Aliaksandr Milinkevich.

Polish journalist freed from Belarus prison

A Polish journalist detained by Belarussian police during a demonstration in Minsk against the Lukashenko regime on March 24 has been released from prison. Weronika Samolinska, who writes for the mass circulation Gazeta Wyborcza daily, was sentenced to 10 days behind bars on March 27. She was detained alongside several hundred Belarussian opposition supporters when the police cracked down on protesters in Minsk. Among them was also a former Polish ambassador to Minsk Mariusz Maszkiewicz, who is now in hospital due to problems with his heart.

Russia begins supplies of air defense systems to Belarus

Russia has begun supplies of modern S-300PS defense systems to Belarus, Air Force chief Vladimir Mikhailov told Itar-Tass upon arriving in the Belarusian capital on Monday. "Belarusians are literary fine fellows, doing everything on time and even slightly pacing ahead, in order to receive the modern air defense missile systems," Mikhailov said.

Journalists set at liberty

Today about 11.30 member of the public organization “Belarusian Association of Journalists” (BAJ) Anton Taras was released from the special jail in Akrestsina Street where he had spent 11 days. Several journalists were released from Zhodzina special isolation jail: “BAJ” member Tatsiana Vanina (8 days) and Sviatlana Stankevich (8 days) were exonerated March 31, while Vadzim Kaznacheieu was exonerated at night April 2-3. Today at night journalist Darya Kastenka (10 days) was exonerated from the Minsk city executive committee interior department special jail. Andrzej Pisalnik (12 days), the editor of the newspaper “Glos znad Niemna na uchodzstwie” was set at liberty April 1.The trial of “Narodnaya Volia” journalist Valery Schukin was again postponed till April 6. Meanwhile our colleagues are still kept behind the bars: Belarusian journalists Artsiom Liava and Siargey Salash, Russian journalists Eduard Glezin, Oleg Kozlovskiy, Aleksandr Podrobinek, Ukrainian journalists Andrei Lubka and Pavel Salyga, Georgian operator Georgiy Lagidze, Polish correspondent Wieranika Samalinska and Canadian journalist Frederick Lavoie. All of them are kept in Aktrestsina Street.

"Last Saturday we played a hockey match against the President and he defeated us with an excellent score. 16-year Andrei Kuzmienkou, detained on the Kastrychnitskaya Square during the dispersal of the meeting, has been in hospital for more than one week already. According to the “Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belorussii”, the under-the-age oppositionist was hurt during the detention and was hospitalized with the diagnosis “haematoma of kidney”.

No BTV in Lithuania

Lithuanian TV and radio Commission prohibited all state-owned and private TV companies of the country to broadcast the programs of Belarusian state channels. The decision was preceded by the resolution of the Lithuanian parliament which recognized the election invalid. In its resolution the parliament of Lithuania calls the Belarusian authorities “dictatorial regime of Lukashenka”. It condemns the “repression against the opposition”. The Commission also says in its decision that Belarusian state TV channels spread misinformation.

Almost one hundred of political prisoners were released today about 3 a.m. from the Minsk special distribution center and Zhodzina temporary isolation jail. Those are the people detained at the liquidation of the tent camp established on the Kastrychnitskaya Square at night, March 23-24. More than one thousand of people got imprisoned within the action. The number of arrested surpassing the number of cells in Minsk, the people were kept in isolation jails of Minsk district and Minsk region. From 3 a.m a “Radio Svaboda” correspondent met the people, who had spent 10 days behind the bars, by the gate of the Zhodzina isolation jail.
