Political Prisoners Isolated
13:24, 24/04/2006

A political prisoner, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th convocation Andrei Klimau (Klimov), who serves a sentence in the detention facility of open type number 22 in the village of Barshchouka Rechytsa district Homel region, was asked not to leave the territory of the special settlement.

As said by him, the administration of the detention facility asked him to ask for time off at work for two days, and not to leave the territory of the detention facility until April 26. “To my mind, it is connected with the fact that on April 26 Alyaksandr Lukashenka is to visit Homel,” A. Klimau said.

At the moment the politician works in a private construction joint stock company. “I work in my speciality, as I am a builder. Not long ago we had been drilling holes for oil, and now we are boring water wells,” the politician said.

As we have informed, on June 10, 2005 the court of the Tsentralny district of Minsk has sentenced the deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th convocation Andrei Klimov to a year and a half of personal restraint and corrective labour. Andrei Klimau was found guilty in violating art. 342 of Criminal Code (organizing group actions violating public order or active participation in them) for organizing protest action on March 25, 2005. Before the trial Andrei Klimau spent two months in pre-detention prison.
