17:57, 25/04/2006

Ihar Rynkevich, a lawyer of the former candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Kazulin is charged with hooliganism. The defendant of Kazulin is to appear in the court of Maskouski district of Minsk on April 26 at 10 a.m. the Charter’97 press center was informed about that by the press secretary of Alyaksandr Kazulin, Nina Shydlouskaya.

As Nina Shydlouskaya said, Rynkevich is charges with violation of the Article 156 of the Administrative Code (hooliganism). As said by policemen, the lawyer allegedly performed “hooliganism” by the police department of Kastrychnitski district.

As we have informed, on March 2 the candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Kazulin was taken to the court of Kastrychnitski district. The politician was detained at his attempt to enter the so-called “All-Belarusian Assembly” and beaten up by riot policemen, Dzmitry Paulichenka being among them. Dzmitry Paulichenka is suspected by world community of abductions and assassinations of Belarusian journalist and opposition leaders. On that day family members and supporters of Alyaksandr Kazulin gathered by the police department. Many of them were seized by law-enforcers in mufti and beaten up then.

At the moment Alyaksandr Kazulin is under arrest in Zhodzina detention center (Minsk region). Kazulin is charged with violation of two articles of the Criminal Code: “hooliganism” – for episodes concerning events on March 2 (when Kazulin wanted to register as a delegate of the “All-Belarusian assembly” and was beaten up by SOBR commander Dzmitry Paulichenka, suspected of opposition leaders’ abductions and assassinations by the world community) and February 17, 2006 (when the candidate for presidency was not allowed to enter the National Press Center). The candidate for presidency is also charged with “organizing group actions violating public order, or active participation in them,” – for organizing and participation in a peaceful protest rally on March 25.
