The European Union has made a mistake by introducing sanctions against Belarus, said Moscow`s ambassador to the EU Vladimir Chizhov. He said that in the run-up to the Russian-EU summit opening in Sochi on May 25, and the G-8 summit scheduled for July 15-17 in St. Petersburg.
“Belarus is not an element of agenda of our political dialogue. However I do not exclude that this topic could be brought up, as the EU has initiated additional measures against this country. We believe that it’s a mistake, it’s not right,” the representative of Russia said.
As we have informed, the EU has introduced economic sanctions against Alyaksandr Lukashenka and dozens of Belarusian officials, freezing their accounts abroad, and banning them from entering the EU.
