A young activist Krystsina Shatsikava has lodged a complaint and submitted it to the head of Internal Affairs Department of Minsk executive committee with a demand to return her personal belongings, which disappeared after the dispersal of the tent camp in October Square on March 24 and arrest of its participants. As we have informed, hundreds of other defenders of the tent camp faced the same situation: after arrests and dismantling of tents their things disappeared as well.
The Charter’97 press center has received a copy Shatsikava’s complaint. It is stated there that after her arrest many of her belongings, mainly clothes, were left on October Square.
“As I found out later from state-run media (TV channels BT, ONT, STV and Lad) and independent media (EURONEWS, HTB, REN TV, CNN, BBC) after policemen of the special unit and riot policemen detained all participants of the protest. All tents and things in them were taken to undisclosed direction,” Krystsina Shatsikava said.
An activist draws attention of the leadership of the Internal Affairs department of Minsk executive committee to the inadmissible behaviour of riot policemen, whose actions during the disband of the tent camp were not compatible with a position of a policemen: they used foul language, applied force, insulted honour and dignity of citizens.
“At that moment I was really ashamed for the Belarusian law-enforcing agencies. Their indecorous behaviour, to my mind, could be called discrediting of Belarus in the eyes of foreign citizens,” Krystsina Shatsikava said.
An activist demands to inform her in a written form, within a term envisaged by the law about location f her personal belongings taken from October Square by riot policemen, and to bring to account offenders.
