Two Danish artists launched a humorous protest Friday against Belarus` autocratic president, Alexander Lukashenko, putting up stickers at a border crossing with Poland that poke fun at the leader.

In an interview to “Echo Moskvy”, Russian businessman and political figure Boris Berezovskiy named three possible ways for Vladimir Putin to stay the Russian President for the third term. “The first variant is a new state, and actually its configuration doesn’t matter - Russia and Belarus, or South Ossetia, or Abkhazia, although it would be worse with South Ossetia and Abkhazia, since they form parts of other countries, which make the establishing of a new state rather doubtful. As for Belarus - this is the most suitable variant from the Kremlin’s position, and in the regard of legitimacy. But there’s one problem - Mr. Lukashenka, who’s as ambitious as Putin. And it’s absolutely clear that these recent decision of economic pressure on Belarus by gas price alterations - these are the consequences of his intractability in implementing this variant,” - B.Berezovskiy said.

Belarusian powers extend list of foreigners barred from entering the counrty

The list of the officials barred from entering Belarus has been modified, as the Belarusian Home Ministry told “Interfax” on Monday. According to the Ministry representatives, “new names were added to the list of the foreigners whose arrival to Belarus is either prohibited or undesirable”. “The following foreigners are short-listed: those who crossed the Belarusian frontier illegally, who were exonerated after imprisonment, deported from the country, as well as those detained on Belarusian roads for driving in a state of intoxication,” - Home Ministry officials remarked.

Actions urging to exonerate political prisoners are evolving in Belarus. A 6-meter long transparency “Freedom To Political Prisoners!” was fixed above the bridge in Dziarzhynski avenue on June 8. According to witnesses, the transparency was hanging for more than 2 hours, until it was removed by the police.

The Office of Public Prosecutor accuses "Zhoda"`s deputy editor-in-chief Aliaksandar Zdvizhkou of having reprinted the scandalous caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad. It is still unknown where Aliaksandar Zdvizhkou is at the moment. "Belgazeta" informed about it in the article "Art for the Office of Public Prosecutor. A journalist from "Zhoda" is accused of a crime".

Lawyer Statkevich visited Autukhovich in jail

Nadzeia Statkevich informed him about the results of the trial on June 8, which he missed because of poor health. He was sorry to hear that the trial had been suspended, while Iury Liavonaus case would still be considered in court.

Kazulin not allowed to see relatives

According to the ex-candidate lawyers, he was not allowed to see his family without giving any reasons. They think that the refusal may be connected with the coming trial. The investigation is carried out by the investigation committee of Minsk City Police. Kazulin is charged with hooliganism and organizing street disturbances. He has been kept under arrest since March 25.

An action “We Pant with BT (Belarusian Television) Lies” took place in Minsk on June 10. At 6 p.m., a young man sat on the ground close to the underground crossing by “Impuls” trade center, put on a gas-mask and took out a poster “I’m Panting with BT Lies”.

In Support of UN Convention on Enforced Disappearances

Members of the families of people disappeared in Belarus in 1999-2000 together with international human rights NGOs are carrying out a campaign of collecting signatures in support of the UN Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. The Convention is to be considered during the first session of the UN Council on Human Rights which starts on June 19. If you support the open letter in favour of the Convention, send a message to the email: info@ciwr.org before June 19 with a mark “In support of the Convention” with your full name and occupation. If you express support on behalf of the organization, write a full name of the organization, a country where it is based and your position in the organization.

Shady judging

At present, the prosecutor’s office of Grodna region investigates the criminal case of ex-judge of Leninski district of Grodna Dzmitser Dziemchanka. This is the judge who sentenced entrepreneurs’ leader Valery Levaneuski and Aliaksandar Vasilyeu to two-year imprisonment two years ago.

Hunger striker hospitalized

20 members of Malady Front keep on the hunger strike launched May 29, in Saligorsk. The Malady Front activists demand a halt for persecution of opposition youth and exoneration for all political prisoners. One of the leaders of Malady Front office of the town of Zhodzina Siarzhuk Gudzilin who assists the hunger strike was hospitalized because of the poor health condition. A dropping basin is linked to Siarzhuk.
