No information about UCP leader Anatol Liabedzka detained today near the Russian Embassy is available till now. It is reported that perhaps a protocol on the article 156 of the Criminal Code - “minor hooliganism” - was filed on him, and he was taken to the special distribution prison in Akrestsin Street. 
Andrei Babitski delivered to district interior department in blood 21:08, 16/07/2006

Young activist Andrei Babitski was delivered to the Minsk city Frunzienski district interior department all covered with blood. OMON soldiers who were detaining people near the Russian Embassy have smashed his face till blood. According to the witnesses from the Frunzienski district interior department, perhaps A.Babitski got his nose broken. No medical aid is rendered to him.

The mobile phones of the people detained today near the Russian Embassy are switched off. Charter’97 press-center has managed to reach only UCP leader Anatol Liabedzka when he was on a police bus. He said he didn’t know what the police would do to him. The opposition activists are reported to be beaten violently during detention.

Several young activists who had managed to light candles near the Russian Embassy were also arrested. They were grabbed by OMON soldiers in muftis who neither introduced themselves nor presented any documents. Thus, the number of the people detained today near the Russian Embassy reached 40.
