The Foreign Ministry of Belarus refutes statements of officials of Latvian Foreign Ministry, disseminated by Belarusian and Latvian media, that Belarusian Ambassador in Latvia had breached diplomatic practice.
As a number of mass media informed with a reference to the press service of Latvia, “on July 20 the Belarusian ambassador who had granted a letter of accreditation, left the country without informing the Foreign Ministry, which is ignoring of a usual diplomatic practice”.
Commenting this statement on the request of Interfax, the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Andrei Papou denied the truth of the statement insistently. “It’s a glaring falsehood. A corresponding note had been sent to the Foreign Ministry of Latvia. Most of diplomatic missions accredited in Riga have received it. It is strange that it had not been received by the Foreign Ministry,” A. Papou said.
