Kazulin’s Health Deteriorated In Prison

The former candidate for presidency in Belarus, the leader of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) Alyaksandr Kazulin was diagnosed “osteochondrosis” and “short-sightedness”, the BalePAN was informed by his wife Iryna Kazulina.

Russian Activist Deported From Belarus

On August 5 at about 12.30 a.m. one of the participanst of the protest near the Russian Embassy in Minsk on July 22, Viktar Simanovich, was released from the remand prison in Akrestsin Street. On July 26 he was sentenced by the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk for 10 days of administrative arrest. On August 4 a citizen of Russia Ekaterina Vinokurova was released from the special detention center. She was detained during the same protest on July 22 and sentenced by the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk to 10 days of administrative arrest. Right after the release the activist was deported from Belarus.

The State of the World Liberty Index has been prepared on the basis of several internationally recognized charts. 159 countries have been studied in such respects as individual freedom, economic freedom, tax burden and others. To make a rating of freedom, reports of The Heritage Foundation, Wall Street Journal, Frasier, Cato, Freedom House and Reporters without Borders have been used.

“Tavarysh” Left Without Publishing Facility Again

The “Tavarysh”, the newspaper of the Party of Communists of Belarus is left without a printing house, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Syarhei Vaznyak reported. As said by him, “an official notice of the limited liability partnership TMK, a Moscow firm which printed “Tavarysh” since March 15 this year, was received by the editorial office. It informed about cancellation of an agreement because of a planned moving to a new place TMK stops its activities for an unknown term.

Public Demands to Blacklist Judge Yasinovich and Prosecutor Migun

Estonian youth organization “Open Republic” has addressed Estonian Prime Minster Andrus Ansip with a proposal to condemn the politically motivated trial over Partnerstva, and expand the list of Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s regime for whom entry to Estonia is banned. Young people demand to put judge Leanid Yasinovich and prosecutor Andrei Migun on a blacklist.

Javier Solana Calls Upon Release of Belarusian Political Prisoners

Benita Ferrero-Waldner believes that condemnation of Partnerstva activists another proof of the conclusions made in the report of the ODIHR OSCE monitoring mission, according to which the presidential elections in Belarus fell short of democratic elections’ standards.

When peace reigned there, one could shut one’s eyes to the things that didn’t exactly corresponded democratic norms and contradicted to Russia’s understanding of economic and geopolitical interests. This time is over,” told the Russian political analyst, a Chairman of the nongovernmental Council on Foreign and Defense Policy in an interview to a Polish newspaper “Dziennik”.

Artur Finkevich Banned to Use Computer

Mahilyou human rights activists have found out that the administration of a corrective facility, where the young Activist Artur Finkevich is serving a sentence of forcible labour, had prohibited him to use a laptop. Previously he had been prohibited to use a radio set.

Belarusian Regime Defends Castro’s Dictatorship

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has sided with Fidel Castro’s dictatorship. “For more than 40 years of successful opposition of Cuba to the most harsh an inhuman pressure from its northern neighbour is a convincing proof of that,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry press secretary Andrei Papou said commenting the recent statements of the US leadership concerning Cuba.

Political Prisoner Tsimafei Dranchuk Turns 25

On August 5 an activist of the civil initiative of elections observation “Partnerstva” (Partnership) Tsimafei Dranchuk turned 25. A day before the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk sentenced Tsimafei to a year of imprisonment in a minimum security colony, for violation of a political article of the Criminal Code, “actions on behalf of an unregistered organization”.

US Can Impose New Sanctions for Conviction of Partnerstva Activists

The US has condemned the verdict to the activists of the civil initiative of elections observation Partnerstva (Partnership), and warns the official Minsk about possible imposing sanctions against responsible Belarusian officials, stated the Spokesperson of the US Department of State Sean McCormack.
