Representative Iranian Delegation Arrived to Belarus 13:15, 09/08/2006
Issues of developing a trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Iran are to be discussed during the visit to Minsk of the Iranian delegation of the Iranian Ministry of Industries and Mines headed by Ali-Reza Tahmasbi. “Today talks with the members of Iranian delegation are to be held in the Industry Ministry. During them it is planned in particular to discuss the issues of cooperation in the field of motor-vehicle construction,” Interfax agency was informed by the Industry Ministry of Belarus.
The ministry informed that the leadership of the company Iran Khodru is to participate in the talks. This company has signed an agreement with the closed joint stock company Unison for production of Iranian cars Samand in Belarus. The program of the visit also includes meetings of the Iranian delegation with the chairman of the National assembly Uladzimir Kanaplyou and first deputy prime Minister of Belarus Uladzimir Syamashka, visits to a number of automobile plants.
“On August 11 an official launching of an assembly line of Samand is to take place with participation of Iranian Industry Minister,” Interfax was informed by a chairman,” Interfax was told by a representative of Unison administration Alyaksei Vahanau. As said by him, a memorandum on cooperation between the Industry Ministries of Belarus and Iran would be signed at the enterprise. “It is possible that the volume of Iranian investment for contraction of fabrication and painting shops would be stipulated in the memorandum,” A. Vahanau said.
According to earlier reports, it is planned to assemble 2 modifications of Samand car, a standard and luxe versions. They both are to be equipped with an engine of 1.8 litre capacity developing 100 horsepowers produced by Peugeot.
