In Barysau Enterprises are Closed, Unemployment Grows 15:28, 11/08/2006
A mandatory leave of workers of Barysau enterprise of musical instruments is extended for one more month, until September 1. The workers have been promised to receive for August, similarly as for the two summer months, two thirds of tariff, which is paid for a leave of absence according to the labour laws.
What would happen on September 1? As the local internet-portal “Electronnyj Barysau” informs, none of the administration representatives has explained that to employees, but it is clear that pianos, produced there since 1935, would not be produced in Barysau any more.
According to rumours, 50 workers out of about 400 would be left at the enterprise, which once had about 3,000 workers. They would be mostly men, capable of physically demanding job. They would be busy with dismantling of unmarketable equipment and demolition of manufacturing buildings.
