“Since 2007 it is expected that gas prices for Belarus would grow about 1.5-2 times. This parameter is earmarked in the prognosis of social and economic development of Russia in 2007, published at the site of Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. In general, as AFN informs, the document calls Belarus as one of the main consumers of Russia’s fuel and energy goods among the CIS countries in the period under consideration, as the fuel market of the country is 94% dependable on Russia.

According to the developers of the document, increase of fuel and energy export to Belarus would be facilitated by investment projects and activation of cooperation ties in industry.

It is expected that the Russian company Lukoil is still to take part in realization of a number of investment projects in Belarus, including production of high-quality oils, in creation of new refining capacities in Naftan oil refinery. Gazprom is to start modernization of one of the largest Belarusian enterprises, Hrodna Azot, and construction of a gas storage.
