«Lietuvos rytas»: Lithuanian Diplomat Who Died In Belarus Could Have Been Poisoned 11:51, 29/08/2006
A Lithuania’s State Security Directorate (VSD) officer, an adviser at the Lithuanian consulate general in Hrodna Vytautas Pociunas could have been poisoned, the Lietuvos rytas writes on Tuesday.
“After returning from a reception on Independence Day of Ukraine, men drank alcohol not only in the room of Pociunas, but in the bar at the ground floor of the hotel,” the article reads.
The newspaper assumes that prostitutes in the bar could be linked with special services and could have put clonidine to drinks which Pociunas drank later.
The Lithuanian diplomat and state security officer died in Brest on August 23 in the night. In the morning he was found dead near the building of the hotel. Belarusian experts say it was an accident. Pociunas is believed to have fallen out of the hotel window.
