Belarusian Writers Evicted from House of Writers 13:31, 30/08/2006
The session of the council of the Union of Belarusian Writers has finished in the House of Writers. It was the last session held in their premises in Frunze Streert, 5. At the moment officer of court have come to the building in order to oust the Union of Belarusian Writers in line with the ruling the Economic Court of Minsk.
The writers were ordered to leave the premises and denied a possibility to rent even a small room in the House of Writers.
According to “Svaboda”, today at the session of the council it has been decided to carry out another congress of the Union of Belarusian Writers in the beginning of October. Besides, amendments and additions to the Statute were rubberstamped. Vitaly Taras and Fiodar Baravy have become members of the Union.
