Writers are leaving House of Writers (Photo) 16:16, 30/08/2006
Today the Union of Belarusian Writers is leaving the House of Writers. Well-known writers and poets of Belarus have gathered in the building in Frunze,5, to carry away portraits of Belarusian literature classics from the House of Writers, which belongs to the General Affairs Management Department under the President.
As we have informed, the Economic court of Minsk has ruled that the Union of Belarusian Writers occupies the premises in the House of Writers without any legal grounds for that, as the agreement signed by the UBW and the Main Economic department of Presidential Management Department expired on January 13, 2003. The court considers that for using the others’ property the defendant should pay the Main Economic department about 55.5 million rubles of rent or leave the premises.
