New US Ambassador to Arrive to Minsk on September 18 15:27, 31/08/2006
A new US Ambassador Karen Stewart is to arrive to Minsk on September 18, as told by Charge d’Affaires Jonathan Moore at a press conference in Minsk today.
US President George Bush nominated Karen B. Stewart to be the next U.S. ambassador to Belarus in July, 2006. According to the statement of the White House, she is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. At the moment she heads the Office of Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus Affairs at the Department of State.
She earlier served as deputy chief of mission in Minsk, Belarus, and in Laos.
She graduated from Wesley College (a prestigious educational institution where Hilary Clinton studied) and the National Defence University of the US.
