Since today the leader of Belarusian Social Democrats, political prisoner Mikola Statkevich is to serve the term of restriction of freedom in the village of Blon, Pukhavichy district Minsk region. The politician is to work at a cattle breeding farm, Radio Svaboda informs. Statkevich has been told that his work would be connected with technical equipment.

“As the Big Jeans Festival would take place on the anniversary of abduction of Viktar Hanchar and Anatol Krasouski, and is dedicated to solidarity with families of abducted politicians, denial to sanction the rally is impossible. Lukashenka told that search of the abducted is a matter of honour for him, and refusal would mean that in fact the authorities are involved in abductions of the Belarusian opposition leaders and a journalist. We want to help Lukashenka to find the missing,” told one of the organizers of the rally “Big Jeans Festival” Viktar Ivashkevich at a press-conference that was held yesterday in Minsk. “Big Jeans Festival” is to take place in Minsk on September 16. The rally is to start at 2.30 p.m. near “Kastrychnik” cinema, and to continue by a march to Bangalore Square, where a meeting and a concert will start at 4 p.m.

Pensioner Held a Political Performance. He Offered Lukashenka to Eat From a Hog-trough

A 66-year-old pensioner from Pinsk protested against unfair imposition of tax and the policy of the authorities. For an hour the pensioner was standing near the stadium “Hvalya” with a hog-trough and three posters: “pork barrel”, “Bloodsucker”, “Lukashenka, come on, eat, pest upon you!”, the European radio for Belarus informs.

Largest EP Faction Supported Awarding Alyaksandr Milinkevich

The largest group of the European Parliament has voiced support to nomination of the leader of the united European forces Alyaksandr Milinkevich for the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. On September 6 the European People’s Party–European Democrats (EPP-ED), consisting of 268 deputies and is a dominating parliamentary group, adopted a decision to support Alyaksandr Milinkevich as a candidate for receiving the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.

Today a group of Belarusian politicians who have arrived to visit political prisoner, a leader of Belarusian Social Democrats Mikola Statkevich at his new place of serving punishment, a village of Sitniki, Pukhavichy district Minsk region, have found out that the politician is to be transferred to another place again. Now he is sent to the village of Blon, Radio Svaboda informs.

Search Carried Out in Apartment of One of Leaders of Young Front

On September 6 a search was held in the apartment of one of the leaders of Minsk branch of the “Young Front”, Zmitser Khvedaruk. As told by Zmitser, KGB officers and policemen managed to get into the apartment, using all possible means. They had no sanctions for a search, but that hadn’t stopped them from committing illegal actions.

The questions of streamlining the work in counteraction illegal migration would be discussed at the session of the united collegium of Russia and Belarus’ ministries of internal affairs starting in Homel on Thursday, Rashid Nurgaliev, Russian Internal Affairs Minister told to journalists on arrival to Homel. As said by him, “issues of cooperation of internal affairs bodies of the two countries in the sphere of illegal migration control are of high priority”. “The whole world is concerned by problems of illegal migration now,” R. Nurgaliev added. He informed that questions of search of disappeared citizens of the two countries at the territory of Belarus and Russia are to be discussed as well.
