“War on Terror” to be Stepped Up in Belarus :: Charter'97 :: News

Justice Ministry of Belarus has drafted law aimed at increasing security of citizens, society and the state, and at stepping up antiterrorist protection, Interfax was informed in Minsk.

“In line with the draft law it is proposed to enact into law criminal liability for creating an organization which activities are aimed at terrorism acts, or which finds it possible to use terrorism in its activities,” the ministry notes.

Besides, as said by the ministry representatives, it is planned to make amendments in the law “On Press and Other Mass Media”, adding a clause that “use of mass media for distribution of information which propagates terrorism or justifies terrorism is forbidden”.

The draft law also amends the Criminal Code, according to which “criminal proceedings would be instituted against persons performing acts of terrorism, no matter when theiy would be detected,” the Justice Ministry representatives told.
