Siuchyk Imprisoned, Though His Sentence Reversed 16:38, 15/09/2006
An opposition activist Vyachaslau Siuchyk has been arrested for 10 days, though the ruling of Minsk city court vacated the sentence of the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk that had sentenced Siuchyk to arrest in March this year, Radio Svaboda informs.
Siuchyk was detained on Spetember 12 at about 9.20 p.m. in the café “Beau Monde” in the center of Minsk, where he was talking to a journalist Pauluk Bykouski. V. Siuchyk is one of active participanst of the tent camp on October Square in Minsk after the presidential elections. The camp was set up on March 19 and existed for three days, until liquidation by law-enforcers. The politician was detained on the square on March 23 in the evening and taken to the 3rd clinical hospital of Minsk, to surgery department, as he had been beaten up during detention. He had a brain trauma. On March 29 he managed to escape arrest after being discharged from the hospital.
For several months Siuchyk was in Ukraine, where he was engaged in political activities.
