Participants of “Big Jeans Festival” in Minsk to Stand Trial 12:05, 18/09/2006
Young activists Dzyanis Nibiyka and Liliya Baltnouskaya were held in the police department of Tsentralny district for more than 12 hours. Young people were detained after the rally “Big Jeans Festival” on their way home. Activists were released on September 17 in the morning without reports being drawn up. The Charter’97 press center was informed about that by a human rights activist Iryna Toustsik. Besides, in the court of Savetski district in Minsk opposition activists Mikhail Subach and Mikhail Sharamet are to stand trial.
Mikhail Suboch was seized by policemen when he was leaving Bangalore Square. In the police department of Savetski district a report was drawn up against him for violation of the article 156 of the Administrative Code (Petty hooliganism). The Charter’97 press center was informed about that by the mother of Mikhail. As said by her, unknown policemen witnessed that Mikhail allegedly used foul language.
Mikhail Sharamet was detained near his house when he was returning from “Big Jeans Festival”.
