Recently late at night an unknown person approached the building of a Protestant church “New Life”, which great while is at suit with the authorities for the right to hold church services in its building. “We’ll show you what is what!” he told. The man was not drunk, his behaviour was congruent. In connection with the threats the leaders of the church decided to enforce night guard.

A picket against the arrest of the leader of the Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich was staged in front of Belarusian Embassy in Poland. Several dozens young people stood in front of Belarusian Embassy holding portraits of the young politician and demanded his immediate release.

The leader of the democratic forces Alyaksandr Milinkevich, leaders of the United Civil Party, the Belarusian Popular Front Party and the Party of Belarusian Communists and the wife of the political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin met the speaker of the US Congress Dennis Hastert and influential Congressmen from the Republican Party.

A young activist Mikhail Sharamet has been sentenced to 5 days of arrest by the court of Partyzanski district of Minsk. Sharamet was detained after the rally “Big Jeans Festival” staged in Minsk on September 16.

In two more cities of Poland except Warsaw actions of solidarity with Belarus were held. In the center of Gozow–Wielkopolski young Belarusians and Poles handed out informational leaflets about the Day of Solidarity with Belarus and about abducted oppositionists. On the railing of a Roma Catholic Church in the center of the city a poster with the logo of the Day of Belarusian Soilidarity, a number 16 in a circle and portraits of Zakharanka, Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski and Dzmitry Zavadski. The action was organized by a local branch of the “Union in support of democracy in Belarus” and a Polish youth organization “Mlodzi Demokraci”.

Today in Minsk city court a cassation appeal to the verdict to the former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Kazulin is to be heard. Kazulin has been sentenced to 5.5 years of imprisonment in a minimum security colony. The day before the politician addressed judges of Minsk city court and called upon them to “judge according with their conscience, taking in consideration their inner and not dictated believes”. The letter of the politician, whose cassation appeal is to be considered on September 19 in Minsk city court, is published at his official site.
