Projects of OSCE Minsk Office In Jeopardy 12:29, 21/09/2006
None of the projects for the year 2006 about joint implementation of which the OSCE office and Belarusian government had agreed, have been realized for today. Radio Svaboda informs that a head of the OSCE Office in Minsk Oke Peterson told about that at the session of the OSCE Standing Committee in Vienna.
The mandate of Minks office reads: any of the projects realized under the aegis of this international body should be unfailingly coordinated with Belarusian government. However, as told by Oke Peterson, “implementation of projects is in jeopardy because of a long procedure of coordination and registration”.
The question is why representatives of a number of Belarusian ministries in fact refuse money from the OSCE funds? Belarusian officials refuse to comment on the situation when their words are recorded. But summing up their words said anonymously, the main reason is a fear complex. Cooperation with international structures is not welcomed, and could cause many troubles.
