Zmitser Dashkevich to Announce Hunger Strike, In Case Bible Wouldn’t be Given to Him :: Charter'97 :: News

The leader of the Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich in his letter to his friends informs that he would go on a hunger strike in case the administration of the remand prison of Minsk would not give him a Bible.

“Nasha Niva” printed a text of he last letter of Zmitser Dashkevich:

“I would like to remind about my tragedy again. I am not allowed to get Bibles. It should be sorted out. I am writing some applications, and they are not even read. And I decided to announce a hunger strike in case Bibles would not be given to me. I have an experience. I would manage to hold on until the court.

Another idea is, to write a complaint to our ministries and to the OSCE because of Bibles and because my letters are not given to me for 5 days. On September 27 I received letters of 21, 23 and 26. They collect them and read them once a week. Today I have been given 6 letters. Even Burakou and Mauzer have written to me from Warsaw. Pass my words of gratitude to them.

Today is October 1. Time flies. Today I saw my trial in a dream. A prosecutor asked half a year of arrest, and judge fines me. It’s amusing. But it seems to me that I will see all variants in my dreams until the court starts. : )

I feel here almost at home, as if I have never lived at large, but my soul want freedom.
