Pensioner Goes on Political Hunger Strike 13:46, 04/10/2006
In the morning of October 4 in Navapolatsk a pensioner, a member of the Conservative Christian party Belarusian Popular Front Anatol Kulik announced a hunger strike to show solidarity with imprisoned politician Alyaksandr Kazulin.
Anatol Kulik comments the situation to Radio Svaboda:
“When I learnt about the address of the political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin to the citizens of our Belarus, and about his intention to start an indefinite hunger strike since October 20, and to show my support to him and other political prisoners, I go on a hunger strike on October 4. It is my contribution to the struggle carried out by our liberal-minded youth and intellectuals. We should support the people ready to give their lives for our Belarus, maybe by other actions”.
As said by Anatol Kulik, his hunger strike is to continue until October 20. in April the activist of the Conservative Christian party was on a three-day hunger strike protesting against violations of the Constitution during the presidential elections.
