Andrei Sannikov: “Even in this case there shouldn’t be any exceptions”
15:59, 26/10/2006

“I think that when a blacklist of officials exists, visa ban against them must act. Despite of everything. Why Pyatkevich and Halavanau were issued visas? Firstly, Switzerland is not a member of the EU. Secondly, a rule of international organizations works. States at which territory such organizations work, in this case are obeying their regime. For instance, even Fidel Castro visited the USA, as Cuba is a member of the UN. The International Labour Organization, like the UN, is an international organization. Certainly, Switzerland could have made relevant recommendations, their trip could have been prevented. But the Swiss are very careful in their performing a duty of a host of many international organizations. But I believe that even in this case there shouldn’t be any exceptions,” the international coordinator of the Charter’97 press center told, commenting on the visit to Switzerland of the deputy head of the presidential administration Natallya Pyatkevich and Justice Minister Viktar Halavanau.
