A supervisory commission of Minsk`s Frunzensky District Executive Committee is expected to consider on December 12 whether Timofei Dranchuk should be released on parole, his father, prominent environmentalist Valery Dranchuk, told BelaPAN. He said that this information had been confirmed to him at various agencies, including the interior ministry`s Penalty Administration Department.
An opposition activist, a 46-year-old Alesya Yasiuk, was detained yesterday in Minsk during distribution of stickers “Jeans for Freedom!” The woman was taken to the police department of Leninski district of Minsk. She was beaten up by a police major I. V. Falej. Medicolegal proceedings have recorded beating signs at her body. She plans to appeal against illegal actions of the policeman.

On December 3 a flash-mob was held in Minsk. It was dedicated to the International Day for the day Abolition of Slavery. Young people were acting out slaves, and they went with their hands tied with a rope. The procession was headed by a man with white mask and black moustache. Participants of a hunger strike in Hrodna, parishioners of the community of the Roman Catholic community of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn (of Vostraja Brama), Mother of Mercy in Hrodna, Teresa Milasheuskaya (born in 1938) and Iryna Hilyuk (1935) were hospitalized today in the night. They were diagnosed a hypertensive crisis. The women had to stop the hunger strike.

Today another stage of election campaign of local Soviets’ deputies ends today. Candidates for deputies, who were nominated by signatures collection, as well as by labour collectives or political parties, are to submit necessary documents for check by election commissions. A day before an extraordinary congress of the Party of Communists of Belarus (PCB) was held in Minsk. A forum of 250 delegates has recommended all PCB nominees for deputies of local councils to withdraw from the election race.
