Performance “Make a Small Stove for Your House” Held in Salihorsk (Photo) :: Charter'97 :: News

On December 31 activists of the Young Front handed out leaflets in one of the central streets of Salihorsk. The leaflets contained instructions how to make a little stove at home. Young people were also offering wood for self-made stoves. By this performance the young people were reminding about the situation around gas and oil prices.

Salihorsk dwellers met the action with smiles, as expected by the organizers.

“Despite of the state propaganda, elderly people do not believe that the gas costs rise is to mount. They seem to be indifferent, and the regime hasn’t used up credit of trust yet,” one of the participants said.

“An attitude of the young and people of the middle age to our actions is positive. Today’s action wasn’t an exception. People use the performance to discuss recent news, to learn about the situation in the country,” a member of the Young Front said.

The performance brought about an argument with market administration and policemen, but nobody was detained.
