NEWS  Human Rights Activist Celebrated New Year in Prison 15:30, 03/01/2007 On December 30 the court of Kastrychnitski district convicted a well-known human rights activist Valery Schukin under the article 156 of the Administrative Code and sentenced him to 7 days of arrest in a remand prison. On December 24 Valery Schukin was prohibited to attend a session of the regional court which tried a case of oppositional candidates for deputies who had been denied registration. Despite of the ban, Schukin entered the court room, and the court called that a hooliganism in the court room. From December 24 to December 25 Valery Schukin was placed to a remand prison.
