Iryna Kazulina to Demand Urgent Hospitalization of Her Husband 14:12, 04/01/2007
The condition of the former candidate for presidency in Belarus, a political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin, is not improving. “On January 3 I was informed by representatives of the colony that swelling of arms and legs had increased. I think that he needs urgent hospitalization, and I will ask the administration of Minsk prison hospital about that. I hope that I would succeed to persuade husband to go to hospital,” Iryna Kazulina said to Radio Svaboda.
Alyaksandr Kazulin was on a political hunger strike for 53 days. He lost more than 30 kilograms. After the hunger strike Kazulin started to gain weight quickly, however doctors speak about bad kidney functioning. The politician refused hospitalization.
As we have informed, the former candidate for presidency had been sentenced to 5.5 years of imprisonment for organizing mass protest rally against rigged election results.
