No serious incidents reported during Milinkevich`s meetings with voters in Grodno 11:49, 09/01/2007
There were not any serious incidents during Aleksandr Milinkevich`s meetings with voters in Grodno on Monday, Pavel Mozheiko, spokesman for the Belarusian opposition leader, told BelaPAN.
Mr. Milinkevich arrived in Grodno to speak in support of Sergei Kuzmenok, a candidate for local soviets, at meetings scheduled to take place at two general education schools. The administration of School No. 31, where the meeting was to begin at 2 p.m., refused to provide Mr. Milinkevich with a large hall, saying that they had problems with light there. That was why the politician had to meet with voters in a classroom.
At School No. 35, where the meeting was to be held between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the beginning was rescheduled for 3 p.m., Mr. Mozheiko said.
"Officials of Grodno district ideological departments attended all the meetings," he added. On January 6, police disrupted nearly all of the politician`s meetings with voters in the Gomel region.
