Policemen to Give Back Leaflets to BPF Leader Only After Election 13:55, 11/01/2007
Campaign leaflets of Vintsuk Vyachorka, the leader of the Belarusian Popular Front party, and of some other candidates of the party, are checked for containing infromation infringing the law. Economic crimes department informs that the leaflets are to be checked until the end of the election campaign, January 15.
The candidates for deputy Vintsuk Vyachorka, Vadzim Kanapatski and Syarhei Karpovich addressed the prosecutor’s office and Minsk city election commission with a complaint against unauthorized actions of officials.
On January 5 in the night a car of Syarzhuk Karpovich, a member of the Belarusian Popular Front party and Minsk city council candidate, was halted near Minsk. Officially published leaflets and posters of the four party candidates in the election in Minsk, including the leader of the Belarusian Popular Front party Vintsuk Vyachorka, were transported in the car. The printed materials were seized by workers of the police department of Zavadski district of Minsk, allegedly because of false invoices.
