Activists of Campaign “For Freedom” Stood Trial in Brest 17:01, 12/01/2007
According to the ruling of the court of Maskouski district of Brest, a participant of the campaign “For Freedom” Andrei Sharenda was acquitted, his associate Dzyanis Turchanyak was fined 15,000 BYR.
Policemen who detained Sharenda in the center of Brest on January 11, could not explain in the court what was the reason of taking him to the police department. Judge Ruslan Syanko ruled to close the case against Andrei Sharenda, Radio Svaboda informed.
As for the second activist of the democratic movement, Dzyanis Turchanyak, first policemen tried to accuse him of driving a stolen car. Later these charged were dropped, but Mr Turchanyak was fined 0.5 basic units for alleged cursing and disobeying demands of policemen.
