Sidorski Not Given Chance to Speak in Moscow 14:08, 12/01/2007
Journalists couldn’t hear the opening remarks of Belarusian Prime Minister Syarhei Sidorski at the talks in Moscow. Syarhei Sidorski made his statement when journalists were absent.
Journalists were displeased that they couldn’t hear the reply of Belarusian Prime Minister. All journalists were asked to leave the hall after Mikhail Fradkov’s speech.
As we have informed, opening the evening round of talks, Russian prime minister Mikhail Fradkov admitted that Russia’s image as a reliable energy supplier was damaged after disruption of Russian gas deliveries through Belarus. “Our negotiations have always been noted for a pragmatic approach and consideration of our countries’ interests. Unfortunately, something has gone wrong of late. As a result the Russian image of a reliable supplier of energy resources was damaged,” Fradkov said.
Russian Prime Minister stated that he is ready to offer variants suitable for the two states and for business. “We would like to find a balanced resolution understandable for all, which would ensure the interests of our countries. This decision would be transparent and really understandable. It should proceed from the necessity to continue cooperation considering development of economies of our countries,” Fradkov said.
