Andrei Dzmitryeu Arrested For 3 Days 16:41, 15/01/2007
On January 15 the judge of Partyzanski district of Minsk Mikalay Trubnikau ruled to arrest an activist of the United Civil Party Andrei Dzmitryeu for 3 days of arrest. He has been charged with violation of the Article 156 (petty hooliganism). Andrei Dzmitryeu was charged with using foul language and bugging passers-by.
The leader of the United Civil party Anatol Lyabedzka arrived to the court in the morning and asked when the case would be tried. Trubnikau answered that the trial was to start after receiving citizens. However, as it turned out, Mikalay Trubnikau told untruths, as the decision about an arrest had been issued already. Estonian MP Silver Meikar arrived to the court as well “for getting acquainted with the judicial system of Belarus”.
As we have informed, Andrei Dzmitryeu, a UCP member, was seized in the street by policemen in mufti on January 12. He was taken to the police department of Partyzanski district of Minsk. Dzmitryeu stayed in the remand prison in Akrestsyn street on the weekend, the press-service of the party informs.
