In Hrodna Stanislau Poczobut and Yauheny Skrabutan Sentenced to Arrest 17:36, 15/01/2007
The court of Leninski district of Hrodna has sentenced an activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus, a musician Stanislau Poczobut, to 7 days of arrest, and a young activist, a stipend-holder of Kalinouski program, Yauhen Skrabutan, to 3 days of arrest. The Charter’97 press-center has been infromed about that by the UPB activist Andzej Poczobut. The both oppositionists were detained on January 13, before the local election.
Stanislau Poczobut was detained by riot policemen. First they said that the UPB activist reminded a criminal who had stolen a car. However, in the police department of Leninski district of Hrodna a report was drawn up for violation of Article 156 of the Administrative Code (petty hooliganism).
Yauhen Skrabutan was detained right after his arrival to Hrodna from Poland where he studies thanks to Kalinouski program. He was also charged with violation of Article 156.
