Administration Exerts Pressure on Kazulin
14:06, 15/01/2007

On January 12 a lawyer Dzmitry Harachka had a meeting with a political prisoner, Alyaksandr Kazulin, in a colony No.3. As informed by the press-service of Alyaksandr Kazulin, issues of submitting a complaint to the Supreme Court and issued connected with the prisoner`s stay in the colony were discussed at the meeting with Kazulin.

As said by the lawyer, Kazulin`s state of health is satisfactory. He is gradually proceeding from the hunger strike. However, the lawyer is concerned with the facts that A. Kazulin still has troubles with his health: he has swellings on his legs, he has kidney and stomach aches, and because of that he has to stay in bed for a long time. Despite of his physical suffering, Kazulin is energetic and full of life.

The only problem A. Kazulin told about to the lawyer, is the problem with some representatives of the administration of the colony. Seeing that A. Kazulin is trying to come round after the long 53-day hunger strike, they focused their attention on making Kazulin`s life in the colony as difficult as possible. A head of Kazulin’s prisoner`s party and a colony’s deputy head for ideology are doing their best to crush him morally. They are inciting other prisoners against him, finding faults with him at no particular reason. On Christmas A. Kazulin was the only prisoner who wasn`t allowed to go to church on the territory of the colony. Kazulin says that if attacks on him wouldn`t stop, he is set to file a complaint against actions of the colony administration to the Penal jurisdiction department.

A. Kazulin asked the lawyer to pass words of immense gratitude to all who had sent Christmas and New Year greetings to him, as he is unable to answer so many messages.
